In Conversation: The Gold Medal Centenary Celebration 2015

Published: May 8, 2015, 2:15 p.m.

Ahead of the centenary of The Gold Medal, the Guildhall School’s most prestigious prize, we talk to two of our talented finalists about how they are preparing for the big day. Bass-baritone Milan Siljanov and tenor Thomas Atkins join us for this podcast, and along with mezzo soprano Marta Fontanal-Simmons and soprano Jennifer Witton they will each be singing songs and arias, followed by a performance with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, in front of a prestigious jury panel including soprano and alumna Sally Matthews and BBC Radio 3 presenter Sara Mohr-Pietsch. We find out how our finalists were selected, how they cope with nerves and just how much it would mean to them to find themselves on The Gold Medal board in the Silk Street foyer. The Gold Medal takes place on 13 May in Barbican Hall. Get your ticket here: http://www.gsmd.ac.uk/music/view_all_events/?tx_julleevents_pi1%5BshowUid%5D=4038
