b"Myles Cochrane here, host of Humboldt Last Week. I'm so excited to share with you my first ever studio-produced song. Please give it a listen and keep in mind I'm a bit rusty. It's on some of the music streaming sites, too -- links below, along with song notes.

As someone who has talked and written about music via a number of local media outlets, this has been such a thrill trying it out from the other side \\U0001f49a

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/4sbR5AyzblI6ZfgHSgVnBU?si=u6ad3DfWTI-X9yK61jFu-Q

Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/kite/1510129591?i=1510129592

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2YNTGaILgc

One positive of staying at home? It's led to my first ever studio-produced song! Thank you to Dominic Romano of Bongo Boy Studio for producing remotely. I think he’s extremely talented and I think the studio is a Humboldt County treasure. Also, thank you to Shiann and Audrey for reassuring me throughout the process — hearing them hum the chorus in the house at random moments has been such a fun new thrill. Finally, thank you to all of the family and friends that have encouraged me musically over the years.

Besides my admiration for the pro-quality production, I have no idea if this song is halfway decent. Now that I mention it, it seems a little silly thanking people not knowing that.

But I feel like this is a good starting place and I’m proud of stepping out of my comfort zone. I haven’t written a song in a decade and as I noted I’ve never utilized a professional studio. In this case, I was able to compose the song and write the lyrics fairly quickly. Then I created a scratch beat along with a live acoustic-guitar version. Finally, I linked up with Dominic to translate what I had into a polished beat with studio vocals. He built on my vision with some great ideas and embellished things with each draft.

The acoustic guitar version is fun to sing and play, too. I’m thinking about writing more utilizing a similar process.

I don’t really know where to start in trying to get people to hear this. Besides my post here, the single is on Spotify, Apple Music, and a number of other places where people get their music. I hope you enjoy it. Please consider adding it to your playlists. I went with the moniker “MC MC” and the title of the song is “Kite.” I hope it stays afloat for a moment. Thanks for reading."
