The man who would become my cousin one day, Gerry Shannon, was a San Francisco firefighter of 19 years on that fateful day.\\xa0

He is a very modest man and as many first responders claim, he was just doing his job.

But on that tragic day in San Francisco history, he saved a woman's life.\\xa0
