Episode 51

It's been almost 2 weeks and I'm not where I wanted to be.

It's been almost 2 weeks and you're not in the place we wanted to be, it could be that you are feeling one of two things.
Either your book has gone into a very different direction or you are behind on your word count.
Line perhaps you feel as if your book is all over the place or maybe even worse than that, you feel as if there are tons of misspellings and the words simply don't make any sense.
This can feel overwhelming, and it can make you feel afraid to go back and to review or edit.
But just know, that you are not the first writer to feel this way.

Often times, especially if this is your first novel, it's most important to simply run the race.

So for example, if you have never run a marathon before, but you tell yourself that you want to win first place – that can feel overwhelming.
One of the best thing that you can do is to first run the race and then change your goals afterwards. Then, run for first place.

If you're behind on your word count, there are several days ahead for you to catch up.
Falling behind on deadlines is simply part of the working professional world and you can catch up as well.
National writing month has double up days where you can sit down and write with the rest of the community and have a chance to catch up.

In addition, those days are really fun for you to buckle down and create more words while your muse has tons of more hours to play with. These are the most fun days for me.

So instead of letting these realities get you down, use them as flags that you are moving in the right direction and you are finishing your book this month.
