I Need to Be Seen
Morning Mantra: “I don’t need to be saved, I need to be seen.”
There is a tendency to try and fix people when they are hurting. It triggers some kind of reaction in us, so we try to change it or them.
It’s really important to meet them where they are, not where we think they should be. Read that again.
There is plenty of time for offering alternatives and a way out of their circumstances. But until they ask for help, it’s best to just be there…..wherever they are.
More often than not, people are more likely to arrive at the next best place on their journey if we do this. Because that is where the healing begins.
They do not need, “Do this.” “You should feel this.” “It’s not that bad.” “You’ll be fine.”
What they need is “I hear you.” “I see you.” “I honor your journey.”
