Part One: Word to Your Mother

Jack and Nate presenting this episode of Hardly Focused! Jack set up for Nate his own link on the Hardly Focused website, for Sbassbear Comedy. Find it here!

Jack begins the episode discussing an encounter in his kitchen with a wasp. If a visual is needed, think of the final scene from Alien. “Lucky star.”

Elsewhere, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have a new song called “WAP.” Most folks like it; those who do not include conservative blowhard Ben Shapiro. Ben’s “white man rap” gives Mike Tarara a run for his money. Also, Ben’s poor wife.

Part Two: Taylor Swift versus Donald Trump

Queen Taylor Swift preaches against President Danny Tramp on Twitter. Much to the ire of her fans, she speaks against Trump’s “calculated dismantling” of the United States Postal Service. Remember kids, however you can do it – vote in November!

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin takes a cue from Jack in trying to pronounce Kamala Harris’ name. Just do what Jack did before this episode – research! “She’s ripping us off Robin, hoo-hoo!”

In a tangent fitting of this podcast’s title, Jack and Nate discuss the commonality of their respective names. Jack can’t believe people pronounce “Jack” as “Jake.” Likewise, people call Nate “Nick.”

Part Three: Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl

A decade after its release, Jack finally watches Scott Pilgrim versus The World. It’s Nate’s favorite movie, but what does Jack think about it? Discussing the film leads Jack on a trivia-laden diatribe about the music careers of actors and actresses.

On the above note, check out She & Him, Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn, Jenny and Johnny, and Got a Girl!

Across the country, the last remaining Blockbuster now doubles as an Airbnb. In fact, this topic leads Jack and Nate into discussing Scott Pilgrim. How fitting!

Seguing, Jack and Nate watch a clip from a Texas morning TV show where a host tries Brach’s Turkey Dinner Candy Corn. This is a real thing that exists. Jack quite fancies the host and her reactions upon taste.

Wrapping up, Jack plays audio of Julie Kavner/Marge Simpson responding to Donald Trump’s senior adviser. Jenna Ellis claims Kamala Harris’ voice resembles that of Marge. It’s the Simpsons versus George H.W. Bush all over again!
