Gwinnett schools names Teacher of the Year finalists

Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia has announced its six Teacher of the Year finalists, representing elementary, middle, and high schools. The finalists were selected from a pool of 25 semifinalists and 141 local Teacher of the Year honorees. They will undergo further evaluation, including in-person and virtual visits and interviews. The judging committee will assess their teaching methods, philosophy, influence on colleagues, and class projects. The top teacher in the district will be named in December, with the chance to compete for statewide honors. The finalists include Heather Kane, Michelle Ruhl, Treva Coates, Michael Payen, Jenna Cloninger, and Halie Rios, each with a unique focus and commitment to education.
