Our guest today is AWR Hawkins. Dr. AWR Hawkins is an award winning journalist at Breitbart News who holds a PhD in Military History from Texas Tech University. AWR is a leading voice defending the Second Amendment, and in discussions on guns and self-defense with an examination of the political and cultural assault on the right to keep and bear arms. 1) We titled today’s show “Is News Still Newsworthy?”. It seems like major historic events get overlooked too often for the latest “shiny object”. You seem to find a happy medium in the stories you write on. When you are deciding on which news stories to report on, how much does cultural relevance weigh in? 2) One of the biggest stories in our nation right now SHOULD be the SCOTUS case on whether or not “keep and bear arms” means that citizens have the right to bear arms outside their homes. We have heard very little about it on many of the big legacy networks. What is your take on that near-silence? 3) Some stories are crossovers – news and culture. The Alec Baldwin story where he was involved in a fatal shooting on his movie set. What is the current status of that story? 4) What are some of your most important recent stories? And are the “important” ones also the ones that gain the most readership?
