The origins of the Christmas are evolutionary. Furthermore, it can be argued that Christmas is a training ground for great disappointment and mistrust. We added the birthday of Christ and somehow, mashed up the pagan celebrations. A shadow archetype such as Krampus is just one more reminder of what Christmas was - a balance of light and dark, providing a harmony between good and evil.
