In a decision last month, the Supreme Court ruled that state governments have the authority to prosecute certain cases on tribal lands. As with many of the decisions this term, the ruling was not without controversy, with one tribal leader saying the decision goes against the \\u201cbasic principles of congressional authority and Indian law.\\u201d
