The Presidential Transition as Vaccinations Begin

Published: Dec. 15, 2020, 10:30 a.m.

We are about halfway through the transition period between Election Day and  January 20, when President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated. It has been a tumultuous period, with outgoing president trump bringing and losing dozens of lawsuits to prove that the election was somehow rigged, which coincided with the GSA chief Emily Murphy delaying the ascertainment of Biden’s victory by weeks.

All of this comes amid the worst pandemic in American history in over 100 years. As the first vaccinations occur this week, Trump has touted Operation Warp Speed and Biden has outlined some of his plans for the pandemic. In a more normal transition, the two men might appear together and work together in service of fighting the pandemic, but this has not been a normal transition.
