Kate Holden's May 29 story is an excerpt from her book 'The Winter Road' about the killing of environmental compliance officer Glen Turner in northwest New South Wales, for which farmer Ian Turnbull was later sentenced to 35 years in prison. Kate joins Good Weekend deputy editor Greg Callaghan to explain how the murder of Turner has been described as a “terrorist act” in the name of a cause, railing against unjust or overly presciptive land management laws and how this tragic case had little impact on the rate of land clearing in NSW.
