Babies, Irma, Lopsided Scores & Overrated College Football Teams

Published: Sept. 20, 2017, 9 a.m.

We actually considered recording a show last week, but in between Hurricane Irma and Whitney giving birth, we just had no time for it. Now that the storm is gone, Girls on the Sideline is back to give you the best in sports! Before we get started, we’d like to welcome our newest member: Caleb Melancon, Whitney’s newborn baby! Feel free to check him out on our Facebook page!

For today’s hot topics, we talk about Florida State’s one game and bye week, huge lopsided games and near-upsets in college football, why we’re starting to think Louisville is overrated, and whether the media is biased towards the East Coast. We also talk about Kevin Sumlin and why we want Florida games to be exciting again.

Highlights of Today’s Episode:

  • Florida State’s 1-0 record and they had a bye week. Bummer.
  • Nobody expected a 47-21 ending on a Clemson-Louisville matchup.
  • Unbelievable Mississippi State vs LSU game. Is this a sign of things to come for LSU?
  • The USC-Texas game was almost an upset and Texas isn’t even ranked.
  • Is there an East Coast sports media bias?
  • Why Lindsay just won’t watch a West Coast game.
  • The two games the girls look forward to this week.

This Week’s Les Miles Coach on the Hot Seat Award:

  • Kevin Sumlin because Texas A&M is a mess right now. In fact, we might even rename this part of the show as “This week’s Kevin Sumlin Coach on the Hot Seat Award”

Lindsay’s MVP & LVP of the Week:

  • This week’s MVP award goes to – Caleb Melancon, Whitney’s newborn baby.
  • This week’s LVP award goes to – ESPN for hypocrisy and mixed signals on who they suspend and who they don't.

Whitney MVP & LVP of the Week:

  • This week’s MVP award goes to – Atlanta United for beating New England and breaking the record for number of tickets sold for a single MLS game.
  • This week’s LVP award goes to – Jemele Hill’s harsh critics over her controversial tweets.
