Honored, thrilled, over the moon, and beyond excited are a few of the phrases we’d use to describe how we felt going into this interview and how we feel releasing it. We had the pleasure of sitting down virtually with the incredible Monica Simpson, who is the Executive Director of SisterSong. In our conversation, we chatted about SisterSong, the work they do as a coalition, and two key topics – reproductive justice and birth justice. Through our conversation we talk about what each is, how they intersect, and how these movements not only came about but continue to be relevant (even more so) in a post-Roe world. We also discuss the overwhelmingly disproportionate impact that the overturning of Roe has on BIPOC people, and the long ignored issue of access (just because something’s legal, doesn’t mean all people have access to it).
