Business Building Learning Curves

Published: May 7, 2021, noon

This week I explore my business learning curve and the ways I have had to adjust what I commit to so I can say YES to more of what I love and do best.

Episode Highlights

28    I’m learning how to say no because I have so much conflicting and complicated advice heading my way about business that it’s impossible to say yes to it all – and I’ve tried!

25    I don’t enjoy feeling like I have to do something. Once I have to do it, it sucks all the joy out of it for me.

30    Faced with a mounting list of things I “have” to do for business, I started to feel a whole-body tantrum coming on.

30    Prefabbing content never worked for me long term as far as posting on social media because by the time it goes live, I’ve already evolved beyond where I was when I wrote the post.

35    My whole life’s journey has been discovering how to trust my own voice and build self-confidence.

10    We are our own most difficult customer every time.

29    Have you ever trusted someone else’s journey and tried to mimic it and gone down the rabbit hole only to be frustrated that it doesn’t work that way for you?

50    When do we get to trust ourselves, and when is it safe and good to trust someone else for help?

40    There’s a lot of free training out there, and I crave knowledge, yet the knowledge they deliver does not solve my problems because it’s not tailored for me. I need MORE.

22    If you actually want to learn something, hire someone who knows how to help you and study under them. It’s just so much faster to get results.

06    I am but one person. There is only so much I can do. I must choose wisely.

37    Saying no so that you can say yes to what matters is important.

50    I like to say yes to everything because FOMO is real and I also don’t want to let anyone down.

37    Why is it so hard to say yes to all the things I want to do and already committed to doing?

20    Your sticky note should only have one or two things on there because any more than that, you’re not going to do them all.

00    Having too many priorities is what leads to burnout.

30    In my first business saying yes was always about supporting other people, but I forgot I also had to say yes to myself, too.

50    There’s so much I say yes to before realizing how much it’s going to cost me, either in time, effort, money, or emotions

13    We need to build in the pathways for people to support us in return for the support we provide.

50    We have to be kind to ourselves for not knowing what we don’t know.

11    I’m saying yes to getting a handle on how business works so I can compensate myself for my work – what a concept!
