Shannon Huffman Polson is author of The Grit Factor: Courage, Resilience and Leadership in the Most Male Dominated Organization in the World (Harvard Business Review Press) and an in-demand speaker who presents to audiences worldwide on leadership and grit. As one of the first women to fly the Apache helicopter in the U.S. Army, Polson led three line units on three different continents before earning her MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth and leading teams in the corporate world at Microsoft. She later earned her MFA. Her first book is North of Hope: A Daughter's Arctic Journey. Polson and her family live in Washington State.

Shannon and I discuss her book, her influences, her experiences (both good and bad) that shaped her life, and dig deep into what grit is and how important it is in leadership and life.
