Interview with Ashlee Leppert, Coast Guard Veteran and Author of The Hurricane Within

Ashlee is a veteran with 14 years of active-duty service in the United States Coast Guard. Her primary job was an avionics electrical technician and flight mechanic instructor. She flew hundreds of missions during her time with the Coast Guard, rescuing over 100 people throughout her career. She trained over 60 basic aircrewman and flight mechanics who served bravely and effectively under her tutelage and beyond. In 2019, Ashlee retired due to a medical diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis.

Leppert received 16 medals and awards throughout her career, to include the prestigious Air Medal, Achievement Medal (2), and Letter of Accommodation (7).

Ashlee and I discuss her book and her latest project that she intends to publish in the very near future. We have a conversation related to PTSD related to military sexual trauma (MST) and her experiences operating during Hurricane Harvey.
