What would our society be like if you had to earn your vote? Would it be worth sacrificing everything for the responsibility that comes with the privilege of that vote? The duo debate the nature of Heinlein’s idea of an earned franchise. A voter base that has sacrificed to earn the right to vote and run for office may be more effective or it could be another mechanism of division. QUOTE: “To vote is to wield authority; it is the supreme authority from which all other authority derives […] Force, if you will! – The franchise is force, naked and raw, the Power of the Rods and the Ax. Whether it is exerted by ten men or by ten billion, political authority is force.” ― Robert A. Heinlein, Starship Troopers Chapter 12. #FrivolousGravitas Links: Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb3cCrFqaHFBp2s7jgtJvFg FB: https://www.facebook.com/Frivolous-Gravitas-Podcast-109356198202987/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FrivolousGravi1 RSS: https://krisdriver.com/feed/rssfeed.xml If you like this content please like, share and subscribe, or just Pay it Forward.
