Emotions of Racing - Happiness with Sarah Sturm
This year, the kit Rapha designed for me is based on emotions. More specifically, the emotions of racing.
On the kit, each color represents an emotion that I believe is key to a good racing mindset. Happiness, Calm, Excitement, Focus, Awareness, and aggressivity.
On this podcast series, I will sit down with different athletes to dig deep into each of these racing emotions; to discuss all sides of each emotions and try and learn from each of these great athletes.

The first episode is on the emotion of Happiness. This emotion is represented by yellow on the kit…because yellow always makes me smile. It is, to me a joyful color.
So who better to talk about fun and happiness than professional off road racer Sarah Sturm? Sarah is a gravel and off road athlete, as well as a very creative person. Her smile can be seen from miles away, and she has one of the most contagious positive energy. This summer, Sarah started a campaign called : “It’s supposed to be fun” where she encourages people to go back to the root of what they love about cycling, and make sure to connect with that.
Can fun and performance coexist? Does everything always have to be fun?
