For over 50 years, John Gibson has best been known as the face of our Newcastle United coverage here at ChronicleLive.Across that time Gibbo has seen all and told all on our newspaper pages, but for 11 of those years, he was also the owner of Gateshead FC.Gibson presided over the Tynesiders across the late nineties and early noughties before eventually handing over the reins to legendary former owner Graham Wood.During his time as owner, Gateshead finished fifth in the Conference and reached the second round of the FA Cup and he looks back on those times with great joy.But given the club's future has been threatened this season amid the catastrophic off-field problems under owner Ranjan Varghese and his controversial financial advisor Joseph Cala, Gibson fears there could no longer be a Gateshead FC.
