The Importance of Responding vs Reacting

Published: April 14, 2020, 3 a.m.

Hi I’m Caroline Beste, your host, and sitting with me is my awesome co-host, Sabrina Arbogast. We want to welcome you to Everything Horses & More! Podcast.

Weekly podcasts will be about everything related to horses and so much more. Weekly topics and discussions range from horse care, handling, training and riding to personal journey’s, development and enlightenment.

Guests will also be invited periodically and given an opportunity to discuss how horses have influenced their lives and inspired their personal journey, growth and well-being.

Today we Today we will be talking about…reacting vs responding. There is a huge difference between reacting and responding. A reaction is typically quick, without much thought, tense and aggressive. A response is thought out, calm and non-threatening. A reaction typically provokes more reactions – perpetuating a long line of hatefulness with nothing accomplished.

I love this quote by Lao Tzu. ‘Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? ~Lao Tzu
