b'Hi and welcome to Day 1 of my 12 Day Of Christmas series. The holiday season is always special, and it’s important that everybody stays safe during this joyous and wonderful time of the year. Here are few things to keep in mind, so that you can stay safe.

Tips While Shopping:
• Park in a well-lit area and be sure to have your keys out, before going to your car so you aren’t digging for them and not watching what’s going on around you.
• Make sure you lock your vehicle and be sure to keep anything of value locked in your trunk.
• Stay off your phone, so you can pay attention to your surroundings.
• Men need to keep your wallet in your front pocket, and women need to keep your purses in front of you at all times.
• Always keep your little ones with you. Never let them wonder off, no matter what.
• Keep an eye out for anything that doesn\'t look right and don\'t hesitate to call the police.

Tips For Traveling:
• Make sure you contact the Post Office to have your mail stopped, while you are gone.
• Let your neighbor know you are going out of town and ask them to keep an eye on your house while you are gone.
• Do not share your vacation plans all over social media. This is how people end up getting robbed.
• Use an automatic timer for your indoor and outdoor lights.

Tips For When You Are At Home:
• Always keep your doors and windows locked.
• Tear down gift boxes before you put them in the recycling can; this way people won’t know what’s in your home.
• Place your live tree’s away from all heat sources (i.e., fireplaces and vents), to avoid drying it out.
• Make sure you always have water in your tree stand. This will keep your tree from drying out and staying healthy.
• Make sure you keep candles or other open flames, away from burnable materials.
• Never leave your stove unattended, while cooking.
• Make sure you properly dispose of your live Christmas tree, after you take it down. Dried trees are a fire hazard and should not be left in your home or garage.
• Try not to overload electrical outlets, because this could cause your cords to overheat and start a fire.

Tips For Having Packages Delivered:
• To avoid package theft, consider having your packages sent to your job, a friend’s house, a family members house or an Amazon Locker. Or better yet, make sure you are home when your package or packages are delivered.
• Track your deliveries so you know when they will arrive.
• If you won’t be home when your package is going to be delivered, ask your neighbor to get it off your porch and hold it for you.

Tips If You Plan On Drinking:
• Be mindful of how much you drink and never drink and drive.
• If you can’t find a ride with someone who is sober, take public transportation (i.e. a taxi, a friend, a family member, Uber or Lift).

Please be sure to subscribe and support my Podcast.
