New author Rho Brooks will be publishing her first book, Rocky Truths, this fall. . I’m currently running a fundraising campaign for the victims and their families of those impacted by the recent events in Atlanta. Raquel Roberts, known affectionately as Rocky to her friends, is a high school senior who is looking forward to having an amazing summer with her best friends before moving away to Washington D.C. in the fall. Raised by a single mother from Thailand, becoming a first-generation college student was something her mom was very proud of. Having been abandoned by her father at birth, Rocky always wondered what she’d say if she ever met him. But after discovering his obituary online one night, she realizes that moment will never happen. Rocky finds herself full of emotions and intense wonder despite having never met him. She decides she wants to learn more about her father and the reason he left. But as Rocky is searching for more answers, someone is searching for her. And she soon realizes this summer would be anything but amazing and sometimes the “truth” is better left unsaid.
