Retired Superintendent Ricardo Medina

My guest this week is retired superintendent\\xa0Ricardo Medina.\\xa0 Ricardo has had an extensive career in education. \\xa0He has served as teacher, \\xa0site administrator, and district leader. \\xa0Ricardo\\xa0served as Superintendent with the Coachella Valley Unified School District, and\\xa0the\\xa0Central Union High School District in California, and the\\xa0Bridgeport-Spaulding Community Schools in Michigan. \\xa0He later served\\xa0as Chief Human Resource Officer with the\\xa0\\xa0Alum Rock Union Elementary School District \\xa0in\\xa0San Jose, California. After retiring from public education,\\xa0 Ricardo joined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as\\xa0Vice President of Strategic Relationships. \\xa0He recently\\xa0shared with me that he was retiring from this position, as well.\\xa0


Ricardo received bachelor degrees from Saginaw Valley State University and Eastern Michigan University, in Sociology and Career/Industrial Technology Education, respectively. \\xa0He obtained his Master\\u2019s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University. \\xa0 Ricardo has led or participated in numerous leadership programs, including \\xa0the\\xa0Association of California School Administrator's Superintendent\\u2019s and Personnel\\xa0Academies, the\\xa0University of Michigan: Center for Educational Improvement through Collaboration, and the Ohio State University: Administrative Intern Summer Residence Program.\\xa0 Ricardo has received numerous awards for his service to education, and contributes to its causes as a leader and member of numerous civic and educational organizations.
