#91. Failing Forward (the Podcast) and How to Stay Grounded & Be Proud of Yourself — Montay Fowler, MSW

Published: Jan. 31, 2022, 1 p.m.

"The community where I come from in South Philadelphia, there's a lot of intergenerational trauma, poverty, losses, and just disenfranchisement. Sometimes that hardens your heart but I don't think anyone wants to intentionally harm or hurt others. I think a lot of times we are slaves to our inner thoughts, and we need to redirect energy towards ourselves." - Montay Fowler, MSW

Welcome back to another episode of Discover More.

This week’s guest is Montay Fowler.

Montay was born & raised in Philadelphia and is a graduate of Temple University and UPenn’s Masters of Social Work program.

The last time we interviewed in Montay in June 2020, we discussed his personal journey into social work and the systematic & personal implications related to the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Since then, he has moved to Atlanta to pursue a director of student engagement position, and was recently featured in Voyage ATL as a Rising Star of the Atlanta community.

He also hosts the Failing Forward podcast, where he hopes “to inspire other entrepreneurs & creatives to fall in love with the process, embrace challenges along the way, and find grace on their journey to success.”

We hope you enjoy this week's episode of Discover More with us and Montay Fowler
