#163: Do You Need an "Avoid List"?

But most of us have never heard about an \\u201cavoid list."\\xa0\\n\\xa0\\nThe thing to understand about avoiding things or avoidance is that it\'s just a code word for fear. There\'s a great quote from Tony Robbins where he says, "Procrastination is just a code word for fear. But people say it because it sounds more romantic or better. No one just wants to flat out say I\'m afraid, but that\'s exactly what they are."\\n\\xa0\\nMost people don\'t even know they are avoiding something. It\'s often in the background of their mind, and they are trying to make progress on their to-do list in the week, but they keep hitting roadblocks of lack of motivation or lack of excitement. This is where an avoid list can be very powerful!\\n\\xa0\\nSo how does it work?\\xa0\\n\\xa0\\nTake out a blank piece of paper, and ask yourself this question: \\u201cIs there anything in my life right now that I\'m avoiding or afraid to give attention to\\u201d?\\xa0\\n\\xa0\\nOnce you have the answer\\u2014ask yourself the following questions:\\n\\xa0\\n-What story do I believe about this topic?\\n-When did I start believing that story?\\n-What\'s my ideal intention?\\n-How do I want to re-write this story?\\n\\xa0\\nThe quicker we are aware of what we\'re avoiding or resisting, the quicker we can unravel the story and energy around it.
