Compared to other high-income countries, our rate of gun deaths per capita is 25 times higher.

But much of what Americans think they know about the costs and causes of gun violence is wrong. And few are aware of solutions that have already been shown to work.

To help fix that, The Guardian has been running a series of in-depth stories called “Guns and Lies.” Its lead reporter is Spencer Critchley\'s guest this time, Aben\\xe9 Clayton.

Aben\\xe9 Clayton started covering community gun violence in her hometown of Richmond, California and continued during her time at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. In this episode, she recounts her own experiences with gun violence and the discoveries she\'s made while covering the issue as a reporter.

It\'s a fascinating discussion that goes behind, and well beyond, the conventional wisdom and clich\\xe9s of gun violence coverage. You\'ll hear about the real people involved, the real costs — and some real solutions.
