A Magdalene RoseTM - Redress and the unspoken dead

Published: Oct. 20, 2022, 1:22 p.m.

In my latest A Magdalene Rose\u2122 Podcast, I draw attention to one personal journey for Justice. In this episode, I talk about the proposed Redress scheme, offered by the Irish Government and how prejudice and detriment is being offered to the many Victims of the Mother and Baby Home Institutions. In particular, I draw attention to the many people who died before 13 January 2021, the date of the State apology for the wrongs committed within these Institutions, and a date before which, the many who have passed, including my Grandmother and Father, are prevented through their estates from applying for recognition through this scheme. It is but one aspect of the detriment being offered to the Victims & Survivors and I take the listener through not just my thoughts, but through my journey to the heart of the political establishment in Dublin. The question remains, will the dead simply remain unspoken of and not recognised?
