The Chinese government is expanding its social controls and human rights abuses, including with a new hotline where netizens can report fellow citizens for making “illegal” comments on history, and with expanding programs on religious suppression such as a new grid-based enforcement system. As this takes place, reports show that China has been working with overseas businesses and journalists to censor its abuses and promote its interests.
