185: Asking for Help (Don't be afraid to do it)

Published: Aug. 9, 2015, 4:01 a.m.

Today, Michael is joined by Consciously Speaking regular, Heather Hans. Heather and Michael will be discussing asking for help - why we're sometimes reluctant to do so, when it's important to do it anyway, and how we all benefit from it.

We are a society, a community - nothing is done without some form of support. We are all standing on the shoulders of our ancestors. If you think you've developed the best software app ever, and you did it all on your own; think again. What about the person who invented the computer to make your work possible? And then the person who invented the chip to make that computer possible, and the person who invented electricity to make that possible, and on and on.

For clarification on the "misquote" I use in the show; here it is with accuracy (if you can believe what you find on the internet):

“I’d rather have one percent of the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent of my own efforts.” - J. Paul Getty
