Published: June 1, 2020, 9 a.m.

Here’s the truth… I’m angry. I’m mad as hell! a black woman who despite the fact that I felt a deep sense of pain and was filled with rage after watching cops maliciously murder George Floyd, I can admit that when it came to advocating for justice and posting something on social, I didn’t know what to say or do so I didn’t do or say anything. I kept waiting until I had the perfect words, until I could express what I was feeling without offending anyone. Then I realized that waiting on the perfect words, the perfect image was adding to the problem.

If you’ve stayed silent because you didn’t know what to do or say, then I want you to know that you are not alone. No matter if you’re black, brown, white, orange, blue or yellow… I don’t care… if you’re confused about how to use your social media platform and role as an educator to advocate for justice, then this episode is for you because I’m sharing 5 action steps that you can take today to share that you as an educator believe that Black Lives Matter.
