United States passed the tougest competition bill in history

Published: June 18, 2021, 4 a.m.

On June 8, the U.S. Senate passed the "American Innovation and Competitiveness Act of 2021".

The bill was originally 1,420 pages long. Since the bill entered the Senate council process in May, members of both parties have added more than 600 amendments to it. This "behemoth" is said to invest more than $250 billion in American technology, science, and research to counter China's growing influence.

Regarding such a bill, the two co-sponsors said: The bill "lays the foundation for the leadership of the United States in the next 100 years" and "is the boldest and most comprehensive anti-China legislation in the history of the United States."
