American Arrogance on China

Published: July 31, 2020, 4 a.m.

A piece of news from the US media caught the attention of the Chinese people: the White House is considering imposing travel restrictions on the Chinese Communist Party and its families. The reason why American hawkish politicians are able to conceive of such a policy not only reflects their arrogance towards China, but also their ignorance.

This is the current situation of the United States against China. I think that the American elite/upper middle class has a huge information asymmetry with their counterparts in China, that is, China understands the United States significantly more than the United States understands China. The United States simply does not know what it is facing, where does the competition come from and is totally blindfolded. Following this trend, the United States cannot compete with China.

The number of Chinese Communist Party members exceeds 90 million; plus direct family members, involving hundreds of millions of people. Not only that, these hundreds of millions of people include the backbone of all walks of life in China-not only in the government and military, but also in state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, institutions, academic institutions, and a large part of the Chinese elite.

There are 3 million Chinese visiting the United States every year. How many of them are Communist Party members and their families? I believe the US government knows nothing about it. What role does the Communist Party of China play in China's political system? What kind of ideology and behavior do they have? What is their relationship with society? Americans know nothing about it.

Two big countries are playing and competing. If you are completely ignorant of another country, how to play and compete with China?

China Explained will show you that because of China’s continued success in industrial upgrading, technological innovation and realizing its huge potential, it is an unstoppable process. The inevitable rise of China may feel intimidating and some simply reject it. Don’t be. More importantly, we will answer the million-dollar question: how can you, as an individual or a small business owner, also profit from the rise of China ?
