Published: July 15, 2020, 2 p.m.

Pat Healy sits down with former four-time national boxing champion Eric Kelly. Kelly speaks on his start in boxing in the talent rich Brooklyn area. Trained by a slew of legendary trainers Kelly quickly honed his skills and found great success on the amateur circuit. Kelly became an alternate of the 2000 Olympic boxing team but his pro dreams were cut short due to an eye injury sustained outside of the ring. Kelly, forced to adapt and adjust, began training people out of Church Street Boxing Gym. His work as a trainer led to working with celebrities such as Pusha T, Brandon Marshall and Roots musician Black Thought. Now, Kelly owns his own gym in the Bronx called SouthBoX by Eric Kelly. He aims to be a fixture in the community helping fighters and young kids stay focused and out of trouble. Hot Topics include thoughts on Mike Tyson return to boxing, Canelo Alvarez and his failed drug tests and importance of boxing gyms in NYC.
