Looking back to move forward.  The deep history of the radical right and its influence today.  Plus, the lessons learned from impeachments past. And Bill Press talks California Congressman Raul Ruiz for a report back from the border.

Historian and author  Nancy MacLean talks about one of the most notable books of the year … “Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America.  Plus Constitutional Scholar Alan Hirsch on his newest book “Impeaching the President: Past, Present and Future”. And Bill Press talks California Congressman Raul Ruiz on his visit to the border to investigate the death of Jakelin Caal  Macquin

Nancy MacLean

When historian Nancy MacLean released her most recent book in 2017, she described a long term and effective movement to undermine democracy in America, inspired by radical free-market advocates, and funded by the Koch brothers. She says that despite it’s chilling tale, reaction to the book as well as the midterm elections have only reinforced her faith that the desire to fight for democracy is steadfast.

Alan Hirsch

WIth all the talk of impeachment swirling around Donald Trump, our next guest wants us to remember it’s hardly the first time. By looking at impeachment stories from the past, he hopes we are better prepared to take the wisest course in the future.

Raul Ruiz

Bill Press talks with California Congressman Raul Ruiz for a report on the health conditions facing migrants detained at the border, the future of the President’s wall and the future of affordable health care.
