Every year for my first five years of teaching have had some kind of a curveball that made me feel like a first year teacher all over again.\\xa0 So to help you with that (very steep) learning curve, I\'ve collected the things I wish I had known into a list of first year teacher tips for you!

  1. Get the Pinterest and Instagram classroom off to do list.\\xa0
  2. You need a solid syllabus. (Episode 57)
  3. You teach humans.\\xa0
  4. Be firm but fair.\\xa0
  5. You need a lesson planning method. (Episode 50)
  6. \\xa0Call parents before you need to.\\xa0
  7. Set boundaries, say no, leave on time.\\xa0
  8. Never ever yell at kids.\\xa0
  9. Delegate to the kids. (Episode 27)
  10. Take notes alongside kids. (Lesson Reflection Episode 16)
  11. Teaching should be fun. If it\'s not, there\'s something wrong.\\xa0
