Classic Poetry Slam - R1

Published: Nov. 11, 2008, 6:30 p.m.

The Coulee Kids studied figurative language, making sophisticated connections to literature, and how to effectively use emphasis, inflection, tone, and pace when performing a podcast. Students learned about copyright issues and were introduced to topics such as public domain and Creative Commons licenses. Flickr was used as a tool to gather photographs.

In a live poetry slam, it is the audience’s obligation to respond to the poet in some way whether clapping, cheering, booing, or snapping their fingers. We are asking for a virtual response, but since we are kids, only positive responses please. Who knows, your comments may show up in our next podcast! If you would like to respond, call us at 1-612-241-6109. A recording will be made of your voice and sent to our email address as a quicktime file. Keep in mind, our teacher will review all messages before sharing!
