Dueling works was a topic of discussion in the 90's as production companies raced to compete in different trends. A Bug's Life vs Antz, Deep Impact vs Armageddon, Dante's Peak vs Volcano, etc. This also happened with TV productions companies trying to join in on the success of Star Trek: The Next Generation. By 1993, there were two shows that took place on a space station, Star Trek's Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5.
