90's Bookclub 1996- Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card

Published: Oct. 14, 2021, 5:21 p.m.

This is a book by Orson Scott Card about the story of Christopher Columbus and the people who work for a future organization called Pastwatch. Scientists from Pastwatch believe they can save the end of the world as we know it and save millions from oppression and slavery by altering the history of Christopher Columbus. Though the book is alternative fiction, it is also every historian's and genealogist's fantasy! What if you had a technology that allows you to see historical events? Would you see if things in the Bible really happened? Would you use it to find out about your family history, especially if your family came from a place that didn't leave records? This book has it all and was thought provoking. It definitely inspired me to look more into my own family history! A great book doesn't just entertain you, it gives you things to think about. I finished this book inspired. Would like to talk about this book again. I next want to look at Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
