Bret Fisher is a specialist in a developer tool called Docker. Docker is a computer program that performs operating-system-level virtualization also known as containerization which is build by Docker. In 2015, Fisher was intrigued by the tool and began using it and hosted meetups to help others train and get fluent in the language. By hosting meetups, the business Docker and Fisher created a relationship which led to an opportunity for Fischer to create a deep dive course around the Docker community. Docker had some content around their platform, but they were not interested in doing a ten hour course and they asked Fisher if he would be interested in creating the course in which they would help promote through their channels. Fisher gave it some thought and ultimately decided to give it a shot. With many unknowns, Fisher knew that by creating this course, while risky could have many upsides including revenue, awareness, speaking opportunities and authority status. It was a risk that worked out for Fisher as he gets up to 500 new customers a day for his Docker Mastery course, which is hosted on Udemy and is one of the top courses on the site. http://dockermastery.com/ In this episode: How to create an online course Why an online course is a good avenue to gain influence The challenges of what course host you could run into Welcome to the 1000 Four Show, where Zack Miller gets to the heart of what really makes successful entrepreneurs and business community leaders tick.
