Published: Nov. 18, 2019, 11 a.m.

Alternative workweek schedules provide the opportunity to schedule longer uninterrupted shifts, flexibility in managing a staggered workforce, and increased productivity.  When implemented properly, an alternative workweek can provide employees with many benefits, including more flexibility, longer shifts that minimize commuting time, and more.  While an employer may desire an alternative workweek schedule, the schedule must be presented to and approved by employees in any identified “work unit” with a majority vote and approval by the Labor Board.
