Sometimes, we try to recognize that by pretending away apathy by pretending that lack of effort or lack of training is just as good as trying, a person who isn't putting in any effort isn't as valuable as a person who does put in the effort. So if there are two people, and one is trying to maximize their gifts and talents and serve others, and the other only tries to maximize self-pleasure, and or doesn't do anything at all, and complains about bitterly about how the world is unfair, they are clearly less useful to those around them than the person who's trying to maximize their gifts and talents in the service to others.” - Kellan Fluckiger

What you are about to learn
Every single person is a light bulb. Every single person is light. But not everyone is allowing electricity, effort, the power to flow through them so that they give light. But the question is, are we providing light to others? Merely being the light bulb doesn't give light. That's a powerful distinction that we have to understand in ourselves as we think about creating the ultimate life. So one thing that gets in the way of Ultimate Life is if I stand up and scream, I'm a light bulb! I'm a light bulb, I deserve all the privileges and deference and so forth have a light bulb, but I'm not giving any light. Nothing's flowing through me. Nothing's happening, because I'm a light bulb. And so I'm not adding any good to the world. I'm just using things taking up, you know, space of others. And all of us do that sometimes.
Being a “just” a light bulb is okay but, if you want to achieve your goal, you need to show that you are working, we need to serve. Now I want to talk about what lets us or keeps us from serving or from letting that electricity flow through us as light bulbs. If we accept that external view that we are nothing, then we will stay there. And then we'll be a light bulb. A dim light bulb has the potential to shine and give power, but we won't be giving control. Because we have to be willing to do the work. I have to be ready to get to work. I'm going to produce light, shed light, give light. That choice, right there, is the trigger that starts the movement in a positive direction.
Each of us has different circumstances and challenges and things that have happened to us along the way. And that means you are special. That means you are unique. That means not only because your DNA is different, your experiential DNA, but the things that have happened to you have also shaped you in unique ways. Your adversity, your negative experiences, the things that have hurt you have also shaped you, that allows you to be powerful, in a unique and useful way. That is good, and that is so needed.
Divine help is available to every person. But that ticket, I guess, is a willingness to accept it, and a desire to do something with it. As long as I waited for something else to do the work, the fact that I was a light didn't matter. So my invitation to you and for me is to create the Ultimate Life, which is always a life of purpose, prosperity, and joy—created by serving others with your divine gifts.
