I wouldn\\u2019t be where I am right now\\u2026if it wasn\\u2019t for the fact that I was so vulnerable.
I shared my story of having struggled with depression when I was in college.\\xa0 I attempted suicide while I was at UCLA\\u2026
There was a point that I told people I didn\\u2019t graduate for medical reasons and that was that.
I knew I had to expose myself\\u2026and that was probably the best thing I could have done.
It was really spontaneous\\u2026.we had just been at a conference where we were discussing our mental health\\u2026and we were talking about how it\\u2019s important to share those stories\\u2026then it was mental health awareness month\\u2026
As leaders we need to do what we can to change the narrative. \\xa0
I just grabbed my phone, hit record and just shared my story. \\xa0
I went ahead and posted it and I almost had a mini panic attack in that moment\\u2026
It was amazing\\u2026how many people were calling me, texting me, messaging me saying Thank You\\u2026
There was no going back in that moment, that\\u2019s for sure, because of the feedback I got.
(The scariest part was) The judgement\\u2026.I was actually\\u2026pleasantly surprised how supportive everybody was. \\xa0
I\\u2019m not that person anymore. \\xa0
I share my story\\u2026in a way that\\u2019s not heavy\\u2026it\\u2019s just a story.\\xa0 An experience that I had that\\u2019s helped me and gotten me where I am today. \\xa0
I feel that there needs to be more of us suicide attempt survivors that are in a really good place so that we can share the skills and the tools and\\u2026how we were able to get over that hump\\u2026
Too many kids think it\\u2019s the end of the world if something happens\\u2026you can overcomes it.\\xa0 And once you\\u2019re on the other side, beautiful things can happen.
Your struggle can turn into your superpower.
You have to respect where you\\u2019re at and if you\\u2019re not ready, you\\u2019re not ready.
You might be missing out on your purpose by not sharing.
If your share, people out there are going to respond in a way that you just don\\u2019t know where it will take you.
I have a 20 year old and\\xa0 17 year old and they will share with me, but its\\u2019 because I\\u2019ve been so open and share with them.\\xa0 I feel that as adults, if we share more then maybe our kids will know that it\\u2019s okay to be open and share more. \\xa0
There is a fine line of sharing too much in the moment.\\xa0 I feel that there\\u2019s a respect level as well.
The only reason I was able to share\\u2026was because I had build a community that I really trusted and there was respect there\\u2026.I felt I had a community that was going to embrace me.
You will have people that don\\u2019t support you and that\\u2019s ok.
A lot of them are the parents.\\xa0 I started RaqtheBoat\\u2026and it started out with the parents that I knew\\u2026and it steamrolled.
Because I\\u2019m on Instagram and I\\u2019ll repurpose a little bit\\u2026I have 16/17 year olds reaching out to me on their own to be on the show. \\xa0
RaqTheBoat is\\u2026I thought, no one is having conversations with our kids\\u2026with adults, there\\u2019s more of a structure and I didn\\u2019t want structure.\\xa0 I will\\u2026hit the..record button and just start asking questions and have the conversation go where it may.
RaqVision came about because my friend had a\\u2026community\\u2026and we need to do the same for our youth\\u202617 and under.\\xa0 We facilitate rooms\\u2026Justin Guarini from American Idol, Rob House\\u2026Michael Ray\\u2026and they facilitate these room with these kids\\u2026 \\xa0
I want any kid who comes onto this platform to walk away a better human.
We need to get away from the vanity metrics and a lot of these kids are basing their worth around how many people are liking their posts or if a video goes viral.
To have these adults come in who have had struggles.\\xa0 For example, there\\u2019s Kyle Green.\\xa0 He had a kid at age 16, a mother on drugs, a father that was non-existent\\u2026he talks about adversity\\u2026here he\\u2019s written tow books and is a motivational speaker\\u2026
I think kids get in that space of \\u2018nobody understands\\u2019
I see a huge shift because it then gives them permission to be able to be vulnerable. \\xa0
We need to change the narrative\\u2026and a lot has to do with adults.

Saturday\\u2026.Pepper\\u2026was in town\\u2026on Saturday, I got to pick her up\\u2026we had never met\\u2026to be able to have that experience that I\\u2019ve only met through zoom\\u2026I don\\u2019t want to just be lip service\\u2026I really want to be able to build a friendship\\u2026that\\u2019s when it feels really right\\u2026to have them open up and talk to me\\u2026
I love that I have no idea of what\\u2019s going to come of this next week.
I thought vulnerability was a weakness\\u2026now I realize it takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable\\u2026so I understand why a lot of people don\\u2019t do it.\\xa0 But, once you do it, there is something so empowering and liberating about it.
Your inner circle and people you trust\\u2026.maybe start opening up more to those people.
If you start sharing little snippets, you\\u2019ll see what your audience gravitates towards.
Oddly enough, every time I\\u2019ve seen someone open up a little and show some behind the scenes\\u2026.that\\u2019s where everyone applauds you.
If I can help one person by sharing my story.\\xa0 That in itself is powerful.\\xa0
If you\\u2019re speaking from the heart and have good intentions, then\\u2026people can sense that.
You\\u2019ll always have people\\u2026who are haters or judge.\\xa0 And I have to remind myself that those are people who themselves are going through something or they have insecurities\\u2026
Now I realize that it\\u2019s important to have my message be to the people that matter.
Just being comfortable with who you are\\u2026.that\\u2019s the underlying message.
