We’ve all been told by our parents that it’s not polite to point at people.  But how did pointing at people become a sign of rude behavior?  In ancient times, it was believed that if someone pointed a finger at a person, they were casting a hex or a curse them.

Even today, most cultures have an unspoken “no pointing” rule. What’s a word for pointing while snapping your fingers at the same time?  That’s obviously called Spointing!

In Nicaragua, however, it’s common practice to point with one’s lips instead of the index finger.  What’s another word for your lower lip?  A fipple! I should probably ‘point out’ that another word for a rude person is a stickybeak!
