b'In this week’s episode we meet Mitty James a broadcaster and musician who was diagnosed with ADHD at 13 years old.20yr old Mitty blows away the myths of what it’s like to live with ADHD as a woman, from her diagnosis to coming out of the closet at the age of 14.We have the Book Collective where we continue with Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, there’s a British Foodie from Lou that is almost impossible to turn vegan and we catch up with the WI, our walking challenges. There’s a look into the huge prescription waste and how the NHS loses 300 million pounds every year, why we should all know the Tail of Spence, plus all the usual shenanigans, the Collective’s comments and forgetting words! We’ve talked previously on our podcast about how Autism presents differently in girls and women, in fact we have a whole episode dedicated to this subject. But what about ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder? We know that more boys are diagnosed but is this because fewer girls have ADHD or is it more likely that their traits are being masked and being missed as with Autism? Mitty James is a broadcaster and musician living in Devon, with ADHD. They stumbled through a very academic upbringing with professors and doctors for parents, and went to a high achieving boarding school. All this with a brother dealing with Asperger’s syndrome and ADHD, coming to terms with her sexuality and living through a traumatic event made for a difficult time. Mitty came out the closet at 14 and was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety at 16, we learn what a day in the life of Mitty is like, how one task can take almost all day, the depression and anxiety surrounding ADHD and how being with someone that can support makes life so much easier. You can watch the full interview on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFgmHLcdx28eco-XlkWYwUA And find Mitty on Instagram @mxttyzIn the Foodie we are looking at British food and as it was the Platinum Jubilee last weekend, Lou made the Jubilee trifle, but how did she get on? Other than making the lemon curd Swiss roll she followed the cheats recipe: https://feastgloriousfeast.com/lemon-amaretti-trifle/ In the Book Collective we continue with the glorious Red Tent by Anita Diamant, the family of Jacob are travelling to his homeland where he meets a terrible fate that changes the family’s plans. Dinah is finding her spirit within water and we begin to hear her story. Next week we read up to page 212. The WI of mediative or power walking is going well with the Collective joining us with their stories of walking. And finally there’s a superb Quote from Edith Eger a Holocaust survivor. Our campaign for a Menopause Clinic in Devon is moving closer but we still need signatures on our petition: https://www.change.org/p/wheresmyclinicOr to send your testimonials please email us: menopauseclinicdc@gmail.comAnd finally, if you would like the templates to send to your MP or CCG please visit our website: https://menopauseclinicfordevon.co.uk--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womenkindcollectivepodcast/message
