Jim Kaplan "Leader in Highlight" Interview

Published: Dec. 1, 2020, 1 p.m.

In the latest edition of Women in Electronics Leader in Highlight series, WE Founder and President Jackie Mattox goes one on one with Jim Kaplan, CEO of Cornell Dubilier Electronics. Like so many leaders in the electronics industry, Jim, a 32-year veteran with CDE, shares his story of starting on the manufacturing floor and how the knowledge and experienced he gained working within one organization for so many years has led to a fulfilling career. While the trend in today's work force may be to jump companies or industries every few years, Jim offers advice to younger employees within the industry to find a company where one fits culturally and that offers opportunities for growth internally. CDE is recognized for having a zero turn-over rate and Jim is confident it is the company's culture that has contributed to this achievement. Jim believes much of CDE's success and what sets them apart is their culture, understanding work life balance and having a workforce who understands their importance to the larger organization.  Case in point, Jim supported Women in Electronics based on the recommendation of one of his employees, and he has seen firsthand the impact the WE community has had in professional and personal development of men and women alike.
