76 Friday Film Feature: Mel Brooks, Comedy Genius

Published: June 25, 2021, 3:19 p.m.

Mel Brooks has been in entertainment since the 1940’s, writing sketches for the show, Your Show of Shows with Sid Caesar, co—writing Get Smart, and going on to direct and write several theatrical releases, such as History of the world Part I, Young Frankenstein, and one of his more popular movies, Blazing Saddles. Ironically, his entertainment work came after his very serious stint in the army defusing bombs and landmines in World War III, giving him a unique outlook on life, but aside from that, Mel Brooks made sure to include parodies of Nazis in his movies, characterized as bumbling idiots who didn’t know what they were doing. Join Victor as he speaks about Mel Brooks on today’s Friday Film Feature.
