Published: July 30, 2022, 9:12 p.m.

Although only two versions have been released thus far, the iPhone Mini was a welcome addition to the line-up of iPhones being released by Apple, particularly for those not interested in the larger screens that are being touted as wonderful technological marvels. In fact, many a blind person was pleased with the iPhone mini as it left one hand free to hold their cane, guidedog harness or bag, in fact, very rarely does the average blind person have one hand to spare, but alas, Apple, in it’s infinite wisdom, has decided to discontinue the mini style of iPhones because of low sales figures.

On this week’s Blind Perspective, our panel discusses Apple’s decision to discontinue the mini style of iPhones, leaving many blind individuals in the lurch looking for a phone they can hold in one hand. So, with no comparable cell phones to the mini, the only alternatives to a smaller phone are the Samsung flip and fold style of phones, which range in cost from twenty-one hundred to twenty-five hundred dollars, not exactly a budget phone, but yet, the blind are given no consideration with this decision..

While the iPhone mini was not a comparative budget phone, running from seven to nine hundred dollars, more expensive than the SE style of iPhones. Apple claims that it’s decision to discontinue the mini style of iPhones was based purely on low sales figures.

Should Apple have continued its sales of the iPhone mini, when it’s small form factor, in the hopes that sales would pick up, or were they right for discontinuing the low selling model?

Join our panel, on Saturday, 4:00 pm (EST), 1:00 pm (PST), 9:00 pm (GMT), as they discuss topical news items of importance from a blind perspective.

The Blind Perspective is an interactive show, allowing for the participation of the audience.
