Few topics stir up controversy to the point of war, in as much as healthcare, and to be specific, abortions and gender reassignment.

Over the last couple of months, governments have made critical and controversial decisions restricting what doctors and health practitioners can do.

In the case of abortions, they have taken the right of a woman to choose what happens to their bodies past the sixth week of pregnancy, even though most women don’t even know that they’re pregnant at that stage.

In terms of gender reassignment, puberty and gender reassignment drugs are restricted to persons over the age of 16, regardless if the healthcare practitioner deems it proper or not, even though there are many fail-safes to ensure the reassignment decision is being made with complete knowledge and informed consent.

Both of these decisions, as well as other decisions not mentioned here are made, not by informed doctors or healthcare professionals, but by bureaucrats in a legislature and government. Should decisions such as these be made by the government, or should the government should the government set aside their responsibility for healthcare decisions to people who are more knowledgeable about healthcare in the first place?

Join our panel, on Saturday, 4:00 pm (EST), 1:00 pm (PST), 9:00 pm (GMT), as we discuss how much power the government should have on a person’s body and healthcare.

The Blind Perspective is an interactive show, allowing for the participation of the audience.
