Owen Meaning has so many wise sayings, and all in that irritating but endearing voice in ALL CAPS throughout the entire book. One of the more memorable characters in modern literature. He says this to the book\u2019s narrator, John Wheelwright. I love the quote in and of itself for the threefold wisdom it offers. First, if you care about something you have to defend it, care for it, keep it safe. Basically, it\u2019s the same way as saying the second part, \u201cif you\u2019re lucky enough to find a way of life you love.\u201d Yes, it doesn\u2019t just come from willing it, there\u2019s some grace involved, some parts that are outside yourself that come into play, which we could call luck. Finally, though, it takes courage. From first realization, to defense, to gratitude, to courage.
